The Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC) commissioned over,under to remake its graphic identity across a large number of projects. To date the team has designed the organization’s annual report (in both calendar and web form), a microsite dedicated to crime prevention through environmental design, communications for health impact reports, as well as many other graphic pieces meant to reach broad audiences interested in the agency’s agenda. As the on-call graphic designers, our approach has been to highlight key aspects of data, maps, and visuals related to MAPC’s work in order to communicate its activities to the public. In the case of the calendar, the color scheme reflects seasonal changes and subtle evolutions across the spectrum of activities. This gives the piece a sense of visual logic that is clear but still acknowledges the many different types of outreach efforts inherent to MAPC’s planning and community mission.
